It was recorded at the anti mosque proteston 9/11 and i believe it a video good enough for public consumption, meaning it shows what a turn islamophobia has taken in this country. i was wondering if i could send it to you. I have on video people seeing i am a muslim and calling me an animal and a blood sucker less than human, i also have on tape a man in the crowd in front of pamela geller screaming “Fu** Muslims, Kill all the muslims, send them back to mecca, Kill all the muslims” etc after they saw i had it on tape a woman started screaming he is a muslim get him get him he is one of THEM and chased me out of there. It is all on tape. i would like to email it to you so you can use it if you want, i just want to help the cause please advise

I thought racism was just a past and something in history books.
Hatred and ignorance for Muslims and Islam is pathetic.

I am an American, and I am a Muslim. I’ve been studying MY religion my entire life. My source for Islam is the Al-Qu’ran not Faux News. First of all, the Qu’ran does NOT tell us to kill. Why do anti-Islamic people love taking out verses referring to specific battles and use it against us? I remember the verse in the Bible where Jesus says: “I have come not to bring peace, but a sword.” See how horrible that sounds? But, I know that’s not what Jesus is trying to say. See how much taking things out of context can distort the meaning? I can easily take out passages from Mein Kamf to make Hitler’s actions seem justifiable.

Consider these verses from the Qu’ran:
“If you will stretch forth your hand towards me to slay me, I am not one to stretch forth my hand towards you to slay you surely I fear Allah, the Lord of the worlds.”

“Allah commands justice, the doing of good, and liberality to kith and kin, and He forbids all shameful deeds, and injustice.”

“Do not let your hatred of a people incite you to aggression.”

“If ye kill an innocent, it is as ye has slain all mankind, and if ye save one life, it is as ye has saved the lives of all mankind.”

Sharia Law also shows up. Sharia Law cannot be forced on people who don’t want to follow it.
The Qu’ran affirms freedom of religion. There are Muslim majority countries which are secular such as Turkey, Azerbaijan, Tunisia, Mali, Malaysia, Indonesia…

“And if your Lord had pleased, surely all those who are in the earth would have believed; will you then force men till they become believers? And it is not for a soul to believe except by God’s permission; and He casts uncleanness on those who will not understand.” — This verse from the Qu’ran is very clear on freedom of religion.

“Say, ‘The truth is from your Lord’: Let him who will believe, and let him who will, reject it.”
(Quran, 18:29)”

Terrorism does not have a religion. If it did, why don’t we blame Christianity for KKK killing, burning, shooting, hanging so many blacks, Catholics, Jews? What about killing Native Americans who didn’t convert to Christianity huh? What about the Inquisition? How about the Crusades when the Crusaders massacred the Jews? And, the persecution of Jews since they killed Jesus Christ by the Christians? How about the blowing up abortion clinics?

Can’t you see this is what happened to the Japanese people also after the attack on Pearl Harbor? How Japanese people were put in camps?
I am a Muslim. I am an American. I love America with all my heart. This is supposed to be the land of freedom and religion tolerance, and PEACE. It breaks my heart to see Americans scapegoating Muslims and blaming all of Islam for 9/11. Please, please.. I hope they stop their hatred towards us. I’m sure Jesus Christ would not have approved. We are merely human beings just like them.

Any educated individual understands that the Park 51 Islamic Interfaith Center (slated to be built 5 blocks north of the
former World Trade Center site) is not a mosque, nor is it an exclusively Muslim space. However, fringe conservative elements wish to hijack this narrative and make you believe otherwise.

On September 11th, 2001, thousands of innocent people died. In the 9 years following those attacks, hundreds of thousands more have died in misguided, retaliatory U.S. military actions overseas. Most recently, a violent anti-Muslim narrative has been launched against the Park 51 proposal, which has stoked flames of hatred culminating in a New York city cab driver almost losing his life.

This perverse narrative and it’s uneducated sloganeering needs to be countered with equally simplistic and strong speech, stating that we, as New Yorkers & Americans, embrace the religious freedoms of all groups; no matter how large or small their constituency is. We support their freedom to assemble and
worship when they choose and wherever they choose to do so.

New Yorkers are a resilient lot …in the days immediately following 9/11, charity was at an all time high, cooperation was wearing it's Sunday best and the phrase “love your neighbor” took on a whole new meaning. This is evidence that New Yorkers are strong enough to heal even the deepest wounds.

What New York and our nation cannot afford to do is allow any hateful, ethnocentric, xenophobic or violent narratives to influence our thoughts or our actions. On 9/11 when buildings started exploding we did not cower …and this resolve holds true now.

We won’t back down when a handful of fear mongering bigots try to tell us that Park 51 should not be built. We will not turn our backs on our Muslim neighbors. The Park 51 Center is about unity, reconciliation and peaceful coexistence …the cornerstone of the spirit of New York.
